Part of the Beta series, which explores the quieter, more nuanced states of perception inspired by beta brain waves, each piece invites viewers into a contemplative space where meaning unfolds with subtlety. Where Alpha is direct, Beta exists in a state of potential, awaiting light and perspective to reveal its hidden depths.
Beta II embraces a raw, elemental presence with its unglazed, matte surface and dark, earthen tones. The twisting, knotted form captures a sense of grounded energy held in quiet suspension, inviting viewers to explore the sculpture’s restrained power. The textured clay seems to absorb light, softening the contours and creating a subtle interplay of shadow within the form itself.
In certain lighting, Beta II has the potential to cast a shadow, revealing a secondary form that mirrors its curves on the wall—a hidden layer of the sculpture that only emerges under the right conditions. This interplay between light and form invites viewers to reflect on how subtle shifts in perspective can reveal unexpected dimensions, encouraging a quiet contemplation of what lies just beyond the visible.
