Gamma State (London, 2024)

Acrylic on Canvas, Video Recording

100x70cm, 60x60cm

Gamma State explores the transformation of a personal meditative process into a collective experience, examining how individual healing can ripple outward to foster shared growth. Rooted in the desire to discover inner strength and shape one’s own reality, the project transforms meditation and mantra repetition into layered textual compositions on canvas documented through a recording. These inscriptions, partially obscured in the final state, persist as traces—forming an unseen foundation that mirrors the hidden structures of memory and personal growth.

Drawing inspiration from gamma brainwaves, associated with heightened states of consciousness and focus, Gamma State reflects on the power of shaping the present through positive affirmations and truth-based messages. This process is further informed by concepts such as Jung’s individuation, the law of conservation of energy, and meditative practices, creating a work that channels introspection into action and transformation.

The creation of the canvases is documented through a video piece, which invites viewers into a quiet, reflective dialogue. Through this medium, the audience is encouraged to pause, explore their inner worlds, and connect with their emotional landscapes. This interplay of text, time, and silence blurs the line between the personal and the collective, offering a space where individual reflection evolves into a shared narrative of resilience and renewal.

The project becomes a coping mechanism for navigating the relationship between self and future, exploring how personal awareness can give rise to collective healing. By translating meditative repetition into visual form, Gamma State serves as both an archive of the artist’s journey and an open invitation for viewers to embark on their own intellectual and spiritual explorations. It reflects the fragility of existence while celebrating the resilience needed to repair, reimagine, and move forward, aligning deeply with the themes of self-preservation and future possibilities.
